Yin is restorative yoga, benefiting your connective tissues and joints. It’s great for flexibility, helping to return your body to a natural range of motion that is lost without use. Traditional Yin Yoga holds poses for 3 to 15 minutes, allowing gravity to take you to your utmost depth of flexibility. My style of Yin is designed to stretch your body and lengthen muscles that are continuously contracted during work and workouts - walks, hikes, burpees - whichever level of activity you enjoy. So we will be skipping those 15min holds! Let this period of mindful movement give you a little reprieve from the stressors of the day.
Yang offers a dynamic form of yoga, benefiting strength and stabilization, as well as stretching out the body. Holding and moving through these asanas, or poses, will strengthen and lengthen muscles, and lead to more stability around your joints, helping you in day-to-day activities as well as in your workouts.
My teaching intention is to get you to focus on different muscle groups and their function(s) - empowering you to take that awareness with you off the mat!
